Our Health Philosophy
For nearly 30 years, Southern Pines Family Danes has raised Great Danes with intention, structure, and deep respect for the breed. Every pairing, every litter, and every placement is handled with care.
We stand behind our puppies with a written Health and Temperament Guarantee. In order to protect the long-term wellbeing of this bloodline, certain care standards must be followed once your puppy leaves our home.
These guidelines are not arbitrary. They reflect decades of experience and are part of what allows us to confidently offer a four-year guarantee.
Vaccination Protocol & Care Requirements
Each puppy goes home with complete veterinary records and a written vaccination schedule.
To maintain the validity of the Health and Temperament Guarantee, owners agree to:
Follow the vaccination schedule provided at pickup
Space vaccinations a minimum of three weeks apart
Avoid administering multiple vaccines at the same visit
Avoid combining vaccinations with deworming or heartworm medications
Contact Southern Pines Family Danes before making major changes to the written protocol
Our program follows a carefully structured vaccination philosophy designed to support healthy development.
Deviation from these guidelines may void the Health and Temperament Guarantee.
Rabies vaccination must be administered separately and in accordance with state law.
We strongly encourage antibody titer testing before administering booster vaccinations.
Four-Year Health Guarantee
Southern Pines Family Danes provides a four-year replacement guarantee covering life-threatening genetic conditions diagnosed by a qualified veterinary specialist that prevent the dog from living a normal companion life.
In such cases, Buyer must notify Southern Pines Family Danes in writing within 48 hours of diagnosis.
Options:
A. Retain the dog (spayed/neutered) and receive a replacement puppy from a future litter.
B. Return the dog with all veterinary documentation and receive a replacement puppy.
This is a replacement guarantee only. No refunds are issued.
Veterinary expenses, transportation, and diagnostic costs remain the responsibility of the Buyer.
Guarantee is void if:
Dog is bred without written permission
Illness results from abuse, neglect, or accident
Care protocol outlined above is not followed
Temperament Guarantee
Temperament is evaluated carefully throughout development.
If within six months of possession the Buyer determines the dog unsuitable for its intended companion purpose, Southern Pines Family Danes will provide a replacement puppy upon return of the original dog.
Shipping and transportation costs are the responsibility of the Buyer.
Spay/Neuter Agreement
All companion puppies are sold on a strict spay/neuter agreement unless breeding rights are granted in writing.
Breeding without written authorization voids all guarantees and constitutes breach of contract.
Proof of spay/neuter must be submitted in writing prior to AKC ownership transfer.
Dispute Resolution
All disputes shall first be submitted to non-binding mediation. If unresolved, disputes will proceed to binding arbitration. Any award shall not exceed the original purchase price of the dog.
Our goal is not simply placement, but lifelong partnership and responsible stewardship of every Southern Pines Family Dane.
